In the Laboratory of Global Environmental Policy, we explore positive and normative questions about environmental problems and policies on local, national, regional, and global scales. On one hand, we conduct empirical research on environmental policies and policy processes, citizens' environmental awareness and behavior, and environmental governance by multi-stakeholders in the perspectives of policy analysis, political science, economics, and some other social science areas. On the other hand, global justice and other normative topics are also studied with tools of political philosophy.

Selected research topics:
- Processes and effects of environmental policy

- Climate mitigation and adaptation

- Citizens' awareness and behavior concerning environmental issues

- Climate justice

- Energy justice

- Disaster management

Since 2013, the laboratory has attracted numerous potential international students around the world, and its past and current members have come from more than twenty countries, ranging from Asia to Europe to Latin America. The total number of students' papers published in refereed journals exceeds 40, and that of their prizes/awards reaches 10.
